Where's the Beef?

A day trip to London's Borough Market was rewarded with a nice piece of Beef from the Ginger Pig (we had a left over ticket to london and this was the last weekend we could use it ). This was the best beef we've had in ages! A cote de beouf apparently - its a rib eye with the bone in...

We also got a few different tomato varieties. Including a Kumato - whose seeds were apparently spread through the greek islands via tortoise dung - they are also supposedly an aphrodisiac! The Kumatos are the deep green tomatos you see in the picture. They were like very strong tomatos with an almost meaty taste to them - very nice indeed! The orange tomatos were also really flavourful.

But the real spectacular part was the rare as possible beef. We kept it really simple - just seasoned, seared and then roasted on a high heat for 40 mins. The result was spectacular!

Interesting Game Design

Just a quick post - someone at work posted a link to a great article. Well the site in general is particularly good for all you game designers out there...

Voulez vous cassoulet avec moi cest soir?

Urrgh!

Goosefat, duck fat... beans, duck, lamb, pork and toulouse sausages. Tomatoes beans and more...

Stuffed beyond belief. And to top it all - 6 bottles of vino between 3...

Ouch.

I'm going to explode.

So. The cassoulet. Definately an art. Think it will be a few more attempts before it is perfected, but not a bad first attempt. But if you are french then you will probably stab us in the face.

Check out the construction pics, four hours in the making, and not quite perfection, but still - we will get there or die trying (with the amount of varied fats involved it will probably be the latter...)

Here chickey chickey chicken!

Been a bit slack on the blog recently...

Anyways three weeks ago we decided to have chicken pie - totally from scratch... Took a while to prepare, but was worth the effort!

Afterwards was a mammoth game of Risk, but my competitiveness was obviously enthusiing Dan...

Ello Bambi!

Last saturday was Venison, courtesy of Dan and Bonnie's trip to London's Borough Market. Bambi was served on a bed of creamed cabbage, some roast new potatoes with garlic and rosemary and some fig and garlic chutney also procured from the Borough Market. All I can say is YUM YUM - Bambi is one tasty lady!

All of this was washed down a treat with plenty of wine and Moscow Mules.

Can you tell our weekends are all about the food these days?! Well this weekend is no exception. Today we shall be making a proper Cassoulet. Expect pictures from the delicious event soon...
